Trademark Registration

STEP BY STEP

Every year, many enterprises, SMEs and even start-up companies face numerous cases of trademark theft. In order to protect the trademarks of companies or brands from being misappropriated, many companies will register their various trademarks to ensure that the company has the sole right to use the trademarks of related goods or services. When the relevant registered trademark is stolen, the loss can be recovered through legal actions to reduce the damage to the company’s reputation and other impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Trademark classification?

Intellectual Property Department has established different classifications in accordance with the Nice Classification by the World Intellectual Property Organization. This classification will give guidelines to help you identify the categories of goods and services. When applying for registration, you must also submit a list of all the goods and services for which you intend to apply for trademark registration. The list must be based on the class of the goods and services, and the number of the class of the goods and services should also be stated.

What is the Application Process and Timeline?

After the Trademark Registry receives the application for registration, the examiner will first check the documents required for the application. If there are no shortcomings in the application and no objection is encountered to the proposed trademark registration, the entire procedure (from the receipt of the application to the approval of the trademark registration at the Trademark Registry) can take as short as six months.
